Here, we have an SMS I received an unknown period of time ago. It contains a link to a website which will no doubt look like Lloyds bank’s website but will be used to harvest your banking details so they can login as you and steal your money. Do not click on links like these.
The message reads:
LLOYDS: You have added a NEW PAYEE on 12/07 via LLOYDS mobile banking app. If this was NOT you, visit: request-online-reversal.com
The first thing that made me think that this a scam (apart from everything) is that I don’t have, and have never had a bank account of any kind with Lloyds. The next thing that makes it very obvious is that the link in the message does not resemble any domain name associated with Lloyds. Also, it’s highly unlikely that a bank would ask you to click on a link to verify or reject a payee.
